OMA Insurance is advocating to bring important changes for members

At OMA Insurance, we have been listening to your feedback and taking action with Manulife to continue to improve the products and services available for you. We are thrilled to share some recent wins that directly address the concerns that have been raised.

1. Receipt-free claim submissions: Manulife has eliminated the need for receipt submissions for select paramedical service providers, this means you can submit cumulative claims for these services of up to $500 daily without a receipt. Providers include:

• • Acupuncture
  • Chiropractor
  • Massage
  • Naturopath
  • Physiotherapist
  • Psychologist
  • Speech Therapy

This change helps to simplify your claims process and gets money back into your pocket faster. Please keep all original claim receipts for 12 months following the date of your claim submission for audit purposes. These receipts could be requested at any time during this period.

2. There will be no change in premiums for the upcoming life and disability insurance renewal period effective September 1, 2024.
3. We have removed the Normal Pregnancy exclusion. Thanks to advocacy from OMA members, normal pregnancy will be removed from the disability exclusion list in upcoming contract updates. Until then, Manulife will be reviewing claims related to abnormal pregnancies in-conjunction with medical diagnosis supported by doctors.
4. OMA Priority Insurance Program (OPIP) attestation improvements: Based on your feedback, we are updating the OPIP Attestation language in the Manulife portal to be clearer, and it now includes a broader list of physician specialities who are eligible for the ministry-subsidized benefit.
5. For ease of reference, you can access your claims Explanation of Benefits (EOB) directly from SecureServe’s landing page. You can submit health and dental forms and claims related documents securely using the SecureServe’s Send a Note feature.
